Robert Douk Psy.D, LEP,BCBA-D
Dr. Douk is a Licensed Educational Psychologist and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who specializes in the identification and treatment of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. He holds a doctorate degree in Psychology where he completed his graduate project in the areas of Autism, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and Early Intervention. Dr. Douk obtained his masters degree in Counseling with a PPS credential in School Psychology and certificates of specializations in Autism and ABA.
BHW employs energetic, caring, and motivated therapists and supervisors who have an earnest desire to improve the behavioral health of our clients. BHW’s employees are highly qualified individuals with backgrounds in child development, education, and/or psychology related fields. They undergo intensive BHW training to deliver quality research-based ABA and instructional methodologies and receive ongoing training through BHW’s academy.
Consultants
Michael Keller Ed.D, LEP, NCSP
Dr. Keller maintains licensure as a Licensed Educational Psychologist in addition to credentialing as a school psychologist and school counselor. He earned his Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern California (USC) and has developed his expertise as a professional educator over the past decade in the public and private kindergarten through 12th grade setting, and as a professor at California State University Long Beach in the School Psychology program.
Mark Nguyen Ed.D, PPS
Dr. Nguyen completed his Doctorate in Education from the University of Southern California (USC) and maintains credentials in school psychology and administration. He has a strong and established presence among the Vietnamese community for his work in general and special education. Dr. Nguyen has served a number of positions including professor at National University in the School Psychology program, School Administrator and School Psychologist. He is an active member of the Boys and Girls Club organization. Dr. Nguyen is also involved with Little Saigon's radio talk show where he facilitate discussion on topics such as Autism and ADHD.
Case Supervisors
We value accountability of our programs and dedicate much attention to accurate data collection and supervision of our therapists. Our case supervisors have bachelor and/or master degrees in special education, and psychology related fields. Some have their BCBA or are BCBA eligible with years of training in behavioral analysis and working among individuals with Autism and related disorders. Case supervisors work closely with our clinical director to develop treatment plans and modify intervention programs as needed. Case supervisors serve various roles, which include managing client cases, delivering parent trainings, facilitating clinic meetings, and attending IEP meetings.
Behavioral Therapists
Behavioral therapists typically have educational coursework completed in the areas of child development, special education, and/or psychology. They undergo intensive and ongoing BHW trainings that adhere to research-based ABA methodologies. Depending on the parent's preferences and the program goals, one-on-one sessions are delivered at the child’s home, school, and/or community setting.
Educational Therapists
Educational therapists typically have special education credentials or are working to obtain their credential to work with students who range from mild to severe disabilities. Educational therapists have bachelor and/or master degrees in special education, and psychology related fields. They undergo intensive and ongoing BHW trainings that adhere to research-based instructional strategies. Depending on the parent's preferences and the program goals, one-on-one sessions are delivered at the child’s home, school, and/or community setting.
What is a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP)?

"The practice of educational psychology is the performance of any of the following professional functions pertaining to academic learning processes or the education system or both:"
(a) Educational evaluation.
(b) Diagnosis of psychological disorders related to academic learning processes.
(c) Administration of diagnostic tests related to academic learning processes including tests of academic ability, learning patterns, achievement, motivation, and personality factors.
(d) Interpretation of diagnostic tests related to academic learning processes including tests of academic ability, learning patterns, achievement, motivation, and personality factors.
(e) Providing psychological counseling for individuals, groups, and families.
(f) Consultation with other educators and parents on issues of social development and behavioral and academic difficulties.
(g) Conducting Psychoeducational assessments for the purposes of identifying special needs.
(h) Developing treatment programs and strategies to address problems of adjustment.
(i) Coordinating intervention strategies for management of individual crises.
What is a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA)?

"The Board Certified Behavior Analyst is an independent practitioner who also may work as an employee or independent contractor for an organization. The BCBA conducts descriptive and systematic (e.g., analogue) behavioral assessments, including functional analyses, and provides behavior analytic interpretations of the results. The BCBA designs and supervises behavior analytic interventions. The BCBA is able to effectively develop and implement appropriate assessment and intervention methods for use in unfamiliar situations and for a range of cases. The BCBA seeks the consultation of more experienced practitioners when necessary. The BCBA teaches others to carry out ethical and effective behavior analytic interventions based on published research and designs and delivers instruction in behavior analysis. It is strongly recommended that the BCBA supervise the work of Board Certified Associate Behavior Analysts and others who implement behavior analytic interventions."
